Players who do not wish to level up: You do not have to participate in DUPR events and need not worry about a DUPR rating. You will maintain your current level of play until you decide otherwise. However, we would like to invite you to join DUPR and help others that would like to play at your level.  If you're willing to help Non-Rated DUPR players or those entering their Stage 2 phase, please use the Volunteer Form to let the Rating Committee know you are available to help. 

Rating Committee Plan: Players wishing to level up must provide the following information through the Rerating Request Form.

1. DUPR Rerating Stage 1

   • After you have begun the Rating Process the player must participate in a minimum of 16 SLPCC sponsored Round Robins or Tournament games that are recorded in their DUPR Match History.

   • ​Members that are new to DUPR will start with an NR (Non-Rated) status.  The Rating Committee will arrange for NR players to participate in games with DUPR rated members as part of Stage 1.

   • These games must be with a variety of other players. 8 or more different players.

   • Players will be playing against members at their current Club Rating level or members from the next level under them that are in Stage 2 to establish their DUPR target rating.

   • This committee does not recommend posting recreational scores while you are playing in the Rerating Round Robins.

   • When those 16 games have been completed, the rating committee will notify the player that they have reached their DUPR Target Rating (2.00 to 2.50, 2.50 to 3.00, 3.00 to 3.50, 3.50 to 4.00), and they have been reviewed and advise advancement to Stage 2 status.

     • A player that successfully completed Stage 1 and has been accepted into Stage 2 must complete the process or be relegated to Stage 1 and start the rerating process from the beginning.

     • If the player does not reach their DUPR Target Rating, they will be advised they may continue to register for DUPR Rerating Round Robins, but their position in the Rerating Queue will reset to the bottom of the queue.​

     • If a player has played through Stage 1 and did not meet their target rating, they can enter the queue again up to 3 times per Rating Season (Oct. 1-May 31). Once they start playing in Stage 1 again and they meet the target rating prior to playing 16 games, they will be notified by the rating committee and will then be moved to Stage 2.

     1. If the player wishes to be removed from the queue, they should reach out to the Rating Committee via the Club Support Team page.

2. DUPR Rerating Stage 2

   • Players must participate in a minimum of 12 SLPCC sponsored Stage 2 Round Robins or Tournaments that record games in DUPR.

     • Players will be playing against members with a Verified DUPR rating at their Target level.

     • When those 12 games have been completed, the rating committee will review your DUPR Match History and notify the player IF their Club Rating will be moved up one level.

     • Players who have not maintained their target DUPR rating or your DUPR Match History review does not move you up one level, you are automatically reverted to Stage 1.

3. Within 2 months of the first available DUPR Rerating Round Robin match, players must complete the Rerating Process.

   • Exceptions must be approved by the Rating Committee via the Club Support Team page​

   • The deadline time period does not begin until you have reached a point in the Rerating Queue where you are able to be assigned to a match.

4. New Member Rating Process

   • It is the goal of the rating committee to place new members (without any type of rating) into the appropriate rating category through on-court evaluations by the rating committee. Following that evaluation the new member will be assigned a provisional rating and must participate in the DUPR process one level lower than their provisional rating.

     • During the course of their level up process they will be able to participate in club play at that provisional rating that the committee assigned.

Disclaimer: Ratings have and always will be a difficult process. In order to meet the majority needs of this club the development of a rating process is ongoing.

NOTE: ​

1. Due to various concerns about inconsistency amongst the various rating systems (ex. IPTPA, UTPR, DUPR, PT), the rating committee retains final authority and determination of all outside ratings being submitted for club approval.

2. Players who have undergone a rating assessment at SLPCC will not be allowed to circumvent the SLPCC rating process because they were unhappy with their rating.  However, if they choose to play in tournaments and their rating changes due to exemplary play, then their match history will be evaluated.

3. SLPCC ratings by the rating committee using the current process will uniformly be used for rating purposes.

   • Ratings obtained by players in tournaments will have their match history evaluated.  Just because a player plays up does not qualify a player for a higher rating.​

   • IPTPA, UTPR and other rating systems will only be used to place new members into our club.  These ratings will be verified by the rating and competition committees.

   • Ratings by other system will be required to show that they are superior to the SLPCC method.

   • All grievances will be adjudicated in a fair and balanced manner with the player having to undergo further play assessment and the final determination being made by the Rating Committee.

 ABSOLUTELY NO SELF-RATING WILL BE ACCEPTED.
